Mission City Community Fund will host Virtual Charity Event - Greater Giving Local Focus

A memorable virtual charity event for local nonprofits on Saturday, November 7, 2020

Santa Clara, Calif. - 9/01/2020 - Mission City Community Fund invites the community to gather (virtually) on Saturday, November 7th, for our first-ever virtual charity event Greater Giving Local Focus. This virtual evening starts online at 7:00 p.m. and provides a way for us to stay connected to one another, to turn our attention towards good work serving those in need in Silicon Valley, and to share inspiring stories with our caring community, even if only virtually for now.

MCCF will honor Nonprofit of the Year partner, Sunnyvale Community Services, for their extraordinary work to prevent homelessness and hunger within Santa Clara County. Please join us online as we also present the Austen Warburton Community Service Award and the George & Donna Burdick Business Award, among other things:

  • Inspiring stories during these challenging times of the coronavirus pandemic.
  • Silent auction items that you can use NOW.
  • An opportunity to gather (virtually) with a caring community and together, help our neighbors.

Our Greater Giving Local Focus event is an opportunity to acquire great items and experiences...all for charity! Funds raised through sponsorship and auction items will help establish grants for local nonprofits. In 2019, sponsors and winning bidders helped raise over $162,000 for programs in Five Areas of Giving: Theater and The Arts, Education, Social Services, Health Care, and the Environment. MCCF has raised over $3.5 million for charity with more than 750 grants to deserving nonprofits including $130,000 to COVID-19 recipients this past April: Hunger at Home, Healthy Meals Santa Clara, The Health Trust, JW House and South Bay Blue Star Moms. "The coronavirus pandemic has impacted the everyday lives of people in our communities creating an unprecedented need for help and compassion," commented Anne Kepner, MCCF Chair. "With our generous sponsors, donors, and dedicated volunteers, MCCF is uniquely positioned to provide financial support to organizations doing incredible work and we are committed to helping in this crisis and making this year's virtual event successful. Together we will make an even greater difference in the lives of many in Silicon Valley who need help."
